NOTRE-DAME CATHEDRAL

The French constructed the Notre Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City between 1863 and 1880, with two bell towers reaching heights of up to 60 meters. It is situated in a very peaceful and appealing section of the city. Apart from presenting a holy appearance, its design intends to demonstrate the effect of French civilisation and Christianity on Saigon. The Basilica was the most magnificent cathedral of its sort among all French colonies at the time it was built. All of the original materials were brought straight from France.

The French-influenced style of Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral remains a destination for those seeking historic beauty and peace in today’s dynamic and constantly moving Saigon. Not only do followers worship under candlelight in front of the Virgin Mary statue, but visitors and locals alike visit to uncover the city’s genuine essence. The cathedral is most gorgeous in the daylight, with the smiles of couples who have come to take photographs and make films, especially for weddings.
